Ivanka Trump is showing support for Goya Foods after the CEO publicly praised her father, President Donald Trump, last week. The White House Advisor took to social media on Tuesday morning to share the new photo.
She posted the picture with the caption: “If it’s Goya, it has to be good.” She then repeated the phrase in the caption in Spanish. The picture shows the former model smiling for the camera while holding up a can of Goya beans.
At a press conference on Thursday, Goya Foods CEO, Robert Unanue, spoke highly of President Trump. “Mr. President, what can I tell you? I’m so blessed to be here in the most prosperous country in the world, the greatest country in the world,” Unanue said. “And we’re so blessed to have you as our leader, as we continue to build this country and make it the most prosperous nation in the world.”
Unanue’s comments received backlash from some social media users. Many of those that opposed Unanue’s remarks called for a boycott of Goya products. While high profile figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Julian Castro jumped aboard the boycott bandwagon, President Trump claims it backfired.
Goya Foods Boycott: President Trump Weighs In
On Wednesday morning, President Trump took to Twitter to address the issue. “Goya Foods is doing GREAT,” he wrote. “The Radical Left smear machine backfired, people are buying like crazy!”
The White House also issued a statement on Ivanka’s photo and the boycott. “Only the media and the cancel culture movement would criticize Ivanka for showing her personal support for a company that has been unfairly mocked, boycotted and ridiculed for supporting this administration – one that has consistently fought for and delivered for the Hispanic community,” the White House stated, according to Fox News.
