Jay Cutler is taking matters into his own hands attempting to catch a “chicken serial killer” on his farm. The retired NFL quarterback took to social media to share a series of posts in which he reveals that someone or something has been killing his chickens.
The father of three hoped to catch the culprit in the act. “We’ve got a chicken serial killer on the loose. We’ve lost quite a few,” Cutler said on his Instagram Story. “Tonight, we’re gonna set up a trail camera, see if it’s a coyote, bobcat, I don’t know, raccoon. Could be anything.”
Cutler voiced his concern for the surviving chickens. “Enough’s enough, these ladies are a little edgy right now, so we gotta figure this out,” he said.
The former E! personality considered everyone and everything a suspect, including his cat. “Thelma over there, while she looks nice and sweet, is a savage with loose morals,” he said. “I hope you don’t show up on camera tonight.”
To keep a watchful eye over the coop, Cutler set up camp in a tree house. “So, we’re gonna stay up, get the cam going, probably gonna sit in the tree house over there,” he said. “See what happens, see what comes through. We owe it to the ladies, tonight here, especially our new residents.”
While running surveillance, Cutler noticed a storm moving in. “The old treehouse really isn’t set up for a rain shelter,” he said. “And I don’t know if anything’s going to be moving tonight.”
Thelma is Innocent, But the Investigation Continues…
On Thursday morning, Cutler revealed the investigation is ongoing. However, he was able to clear his cat as a suspect. “While they say, ‘no news is good news,’ in this case we needed news. Didn’t get any news, no pictures on the cam, as expected,” he said. “We’re obviously dealing with a pretty intelligent predator. I think it is safe to say that it is not the cat. So, I think we can take her off the suspect list.”
While he was able to eliminate one suspect, Cutler says the “hunt continues.”
