Jeff Bezos Flight to Space: How, When to Watch Blue Origin Launch

Jeff Bezos is no longer CEO of Amazon. Instead, he’s heading for the final frontier aboard Blue Origin’s commercial spacecraft. Find out where to watch the flight right here, along with full details.

“I have just been dreaming of this really my whole life, but I don’t know what it’s going to mean for me,” Bezos told ABC News‘ Michael Strahan in their recent exclusive interview. Earthlings have a thousand different questions for the Amazon founder and former CEO. Mostly, of course, because he’s heading into space. Albeit briefly.

He’ll do so aboard The New Shepherd, a rocket and capsule built for this mission by his space-set company, Blue Origin. Below, we’ve condensed everything you need to know in order to watch Jeff Bezos‘ flight happen tomorrow.

The Big Questions: What to Know & Where to Watch Blue Origin’s Space Flight

When will Blue Origin’s flight take place?
At 9 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 20, barring any sort of technical or weather delays.

Where is it taking place?
Blue Origin will launch The New Shepherd from Van Horn, Texas. The state’s nearby Highway 54 will be closed for the flight, and authorities are asking “visitors” not to approach the launch site.

How can I watch Blue Origin’s flight?
Blue Origin’s team will begin a live stream at 5:30 a.m on Tuesday, July 20 ahead of the flight. Major news outlets will carry the broadcast both on television and online. Specifically, The Wall Street Journal has announced they will provide the live stream for audiences.

Jeff Bezos: ‘Everybody Who’s Been to Space Says It Changes Them’

As curious as we all are, Bezos seems to be matching it. How could he not? The man is joining an infinitesimally small group of humans who have been beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

After stepping down as Amazon’s CEO earlier in July, Bezos is ready to devote his full attention to the journey through another company of his, Blue Origin, named as such after our blue planet itself – and how it is only the beginning for humanity.

“I’m very curious about what tomorrow is actually going to bring,” the astronaut-to-be continues for ABC News’ Good Morning America. “Everybody who’s been to space says it changes them in some way. And I’m just really excited to figure out how it’s going to change me.”

A healthy curiosity is paramount when it comes to space. It is what got us there in the first place. And for Jeff Bezos, this is the most exciting part.

“People say they see the thin limb of the Earth’s atmosphere, it teaches them how fragile and precious the planet is, how there are there no boundaries,” he adds. “I don’t know what it’s going to do but I’m excited to find out.”
