Trebek hosted more than 8,200 episodes during his 35-year-tenure with the show. Above all, he was a fixture on afternoon television for multiple generations. Trebek was so resolute and constant in our culture that it was considered a controversy when he shaved his famous mustache in 2001.

Trebek announced last year that he was suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer, NBC News reported. After that, he began chemotherapy after the diagnosis and battled for over a year. Jeopardy! shared a video from the host promising to be clear and upfront with fans.
He was 80 years old.
CNN’s Brian Stelter said Trebek was still recording episodes of Jeopardy! up until the end of October. Though, his final episode won’t air until Christmas.
Along with 6 Daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding game show host, Trebek also set a Guinness World record in June 2014 for most episodes (6,829) of a game show hosted, TMZ reported.
