Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Launches First Cruise Ship

A cruise ship is the latest luxurious addition to Margaritaville’s roster. The cruise ship is aptly named Margaritaville at Sea. The ship’s maiden voyage is set for April 30th, 2022.

Passengers on the cruise will have many amenities to enjoy on their way to Grand Bahama Island. The ship is outfitted with 10 passenger decks and multiple food and drink sites, like Margaritaville Coffee & Pastry Shop, JWB Prime Steak & Seafood, Frank and Lola’s Pizzeria, LandShark Sports Bar, and Port of Indecision Buffet. A retail store is there for guests that want souvenirs.

Margaritaville at Sea is a one-stop shop for all things relaxation. In addition to the array of food options, there will also be a casino, a spa, a theater, and a gym. If swimming is your thing, there are multiple pools too.

CEO of the Margaritaville company, John Cohlan, says, “Margaritaville at Sea will be a new, exciting, and fun way for guests to escape and vacation in Margaritaville. From oceans to lakes, Margaritaville has an organic tie to the water and with Margaritaville at Sea, we’re able to put our iconic lifestyle, resort experiences, and elevated service directly on the sea. We look forward to seeing guests on, and in, Paradise.”

The Margaritaville brand is made up of resorts and restaurants. Combined, Margaritaville venues host over 20 million people each year.

Margaritaville at Sea Isn’t the Only New Cruise Ship in the Water

Celebrity Cruises is also introducing a new cruise ship to the seas in 2022. With an emphasis on luxury, the Apex is outfitted with many dining, shopping, and lodging options. The ship is the first to include a platform extending over the ocean that moves between floors during the day.

The Apex is well-stocked with amenities. The ship will have live entertainment, dancing, and restaurants run by celebrity chefs. Overall, the ship will offer 29 spaces for drinking and dining.

On brand with the rest of the ship, most of the rooms are big enough to have a king-sized bed. The Apex also has two-story villas and penthouses for guests that are really looking for luxury.

Vacationers are Ready to Set Sail in 2022

Cruise attendance took a hit in 2020 because of COVID-19. After hitting a record high of almost 30 million passengers in 2019, 2020 saw numbers fall to a measly 5.8 million. At this time, cruise attendance is expected to surge in 2022 and beyond. Some cruises are selling out one day after tickets roll out. As countries begin to open back up for all forms of travel, cruises are especially promising.

If you don’t find cruises enjoyable, there are plenty of other vacation options, of course. Corona Beer is opening their own vacation island next year, but the U.S. isn’t on the approved list of visitors yet. Regardless of how you relax, this is your sign to plan a 2022 vacation!
