Democratic president-elect Joe Biden took to social media on Saturday to give his followers and fellow Americans one word to define the country.

Biden sent a tweet to his more than 20 million followers on Saturday afternoon. He says that America can be defined simply by the word, “possibilities.”

“I’ve always believed we can define America in one word: Possibilities,” Biden wrote on Twitter. “We’re going to build an America where everyone has the opportunity to go as far as their dreams and God-given ability will take them.”

Biden won the election with the most votes ever cast for a presidential ticket in the history of the United States– 74 million. In his addresses, he has continually spoken about his vision of a unified America with opportunity for all, no matter their background.

In his first holiday address to the nation as President-elect, Biden sent a reminder to his fellow Americans that “we are at war with a virus, not each other.”

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases have been spiking nationwide. The end of November will mark ten straight months of battling the virus on U.S. soil. In just this short time, nearly 260,000 American lives have fell victim to the coronavirus pandemic.

As a result, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraged Americans not to travel for Thanksgiving. In addition, the U.S.’s top infectious disease doctor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, is asking Americans to limit all holiday gatherings. He advised everyone to make Thanksgiving get-togethers as “small as you possibly can.”

Furthermore, upon wishing the country a Happy Thanksgiving, Biden and his wife Jill urged Americans to stay home. They said that not traveling would be a “gift to fellow Americans.”

In a video Biden posted to Twitter, the couple discusses how their own travel plans have changed. The Bidens said they are holding a more intimate gathering this year.

Thanksgiving has always been a special time for the Biden Family,” Joe Biden said. “For us, we had a long long tradition of traveling to Nantucket with our big family, a large family, every Thanksgiving. But we won’t be doing that this year. This year, we’re going to be staying in Delaware with just a small group around our dinner table.”
