Donald Trump isn’t ready to give up the presidency without a fight. After several outlets declared Biden the winner, the Trump campaign issued a statement saying Biden wasn’t the winner.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner. And why his media allies are trying so hard to help him. They don’t want the truth to be exposed,” the campaign said in a statement to The Daily Mail.
“The simple fact is this election is far from over,” the statement continued. “Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states. Let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts. Or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor. Legal votes decide who is president, not the news media.”
The Trump Campaign plans to continue to fight the outcome of the election in a legal battle. The campaign has filed suits and litigation in several key battleground states. Though several of these lawsuits have already failed.
Joe Biden Wins 2020 Presidential Election
The Associated Press declared Biden the victor today (Nov. 7). Several media outlets such as CNN, USA TODAY, ABC, and CBS followed in declaring Biden the winner. Media outlets project the Democratic candidate to win Pennsylvania after increasing his lead to 34,558 votes. That state pushes Biden to 273 electoral votes, three more than needed to become president.
Results in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina are still to be determined. Vote counting continues in the mentioned states. But Biden leads in all of them except for North Carolina.
On Twitter, Biden also issued a statement regarding his victory. He wrote, “America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”
