John Cena is officially off the market. The WWE superstar tied the knot with his girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh in a private ceremony.
The two wed in Tampa, Florida, officials records show, TMZ reports. Cena, 43, and his new bride started dating in early 2019 following his high-profile split with ex-fiancé Nikki Bella in 2018.
Cena reportedly asked Shariatzadeh to marry him earlier this year. The two first started seeing one another after meeting at a restaurant in Vancouver, WrestlingInc reports.
Since then, the pair primarily kept their relationship away from the public eye. Seven months after they began dating, they made their red carpet debut for the premiere of Cena’s film, Playing With Fire.
At the premiere of the film, Cena shared his excitement to attend the event with his now-wife. “It’s a wonderful day for a movie premiere and I got a beautiful date,” Cena told ET.
“What’s truly special about this one is that, no matter what projects I’m involved in in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special,” he continued.
Officials records show that the two filed for a marriage certificate in Florida earlier this month. They officially wed on Oct. 12, PWInsider reports.
Shariatzadeh was born in Iran, however, she is a Canadian citizen. She reportedly works for a tech company in Vancouver as a product manager.
John Cena: His Past Relationships
This marks Cena’s second marriage. From 2009 to 2012, he was previously wed to Elizabeth Huberdeau. Thereafter, the Blockers actor dated Nikki Bella.
He famously proposed to Bella at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. However, the two called it quits over a falling out about whether or not to have children. They subsequently called off their wedding and later split up altogether.
Since their breakup, Bella welcomed a baby boy named, Matteo, with her fiancé Artem Chigvintsev.
