Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, were baptized together in Idaho last month.
On Wednesday, the 26-year-old pop star shared photos of the religious ritual with his 143 million Instagram followers.
“The moment @haileybieber my wife and I got baptized together!” Justin wrote. “This was one of most special moments of my life. Confessing our love and trust in Jesus publicly with our friends and family.”
The couple was baptized by pastor Judah Smith who leads Churchome—a mega-church with five locations between Washington State and California. Smith was also the officiant at the Bieber’s wedding back in September 2019.
“CHILLS STILL,” Smith wrote in the comments.
Jason Kennedy, a host for E! and fellow Churchome attendee, was also present for the baptism.
“One of the top moments of my life doing this with you,” he commented.
Justin Bieber Baptized Once Before
This is the second time that the “Yummy” singer has been baptized. In 2014, after re-committing his life to Christ, Justin was baptized in NBA player Tyson Chandler’s bathtub at 3 a.m. by Judah Smith and Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz.
“It was probably one of the most special things I’ve been a part of,” Lentz told Oprah as he recounted the story for a “SuperSoul Sunday” interview in 2016.
Since then, Justin Bieber has been increasingly vocal about his faith.
“I never want to be someone that’s trying to persuade anyone to believe in what I believe. I think God persuades people,” Justin told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in February. “But I definitely want to tell my story so that if that resonates to anybody … they can hopefully learn from it.”
As for Hailey, she credits the success of their marriage thus far to God.
“I just watched him evolve in the last year, and I’ve watched our relationship evolve in a way that I know was only possible because Jesus is in the center of it,” she said in an interview for Hillsong’s YouTube channel that dropped in May.
