The Unstoppable Legacy of Dolly Parton

Dolly continues to be an unstoppable force in the entertainment industry as she spreads joy through music, acting, a theme park, her Imagination Library, charity work, and countless other ventures bringing joy to many individuals.

“Her legacy, in my opinion, is huge,” says Brown. “Not only is she Dolly Parton, but she also has the wonderful Dollywood theme park that I love.”

BMI is celebrating Dolly Parton as the country music all-star for 2020. After a tough year for the music industry, a vibrant country legend is being honored.

“In honor of our awards and her book, Songteller, Dolly joins us for a personal conversation with seven of our award-winning BMI songwriters who discuss their favorite Dolly songs, her impact on the art and craft of songwriting,” BMI shared, “and just how much she means to them.”

Kane Brown and His Love for the Queen of Country Music

In a recognition video to honor the legend, Kane Brown explains how Dolly’s talents of telling stories through her songwriting skills are impressive and will continue to leave a legacy.

“What makes Dolly Parton such a relatable songwriter is that she writes what she lives and she writes what she knows. Working ’9 to 5’: anybody can relate to that song. And she does a great job on selling them and singing them,” says Brown.

The song “9 to 5” came out 18 years before Kane was born. However, it still holds a special place in his heart. Another Dolly gift that Brown loves is her Dollywood theme park in Gatlinburg.

“When I go to Gatlinburg, I feel like I’m basically going to Dolly’s town,” he adds. “She has the Dollywood theme park that I love.”
