According to pop superstar Katy Perry, you don’t need to go far to enjoy a camping trip. The “Daisies” singer said during an interview on Monday that she and her fiancé Orlando Bloom recently spent time camping in their backyard.
The American Idol judge spoke with 102.7’s Karen Carson in the Morning about the adventure. Perry was joined by her nieces and nephews as well as Bloom’s 9-year-old son Flynn. “We camped in the backyard. We have tents, we set it up, we do a little fire pit, a lot of S’mores,” Perry said. “We got into family UNO and Legos like nothing else.”
The 35-year-old singer explains the group later decided to go camping in the woods, which she describes as a “different experience.” She continued by saying, “When you camp in your backyard, you can just go into your house and go to the bathroom. But when you’re camping in the wild, it’s wild. It was fun, it was a lot.”
Katy Perry, who is expecting a daughter with Bloom, made the camping trip a mini-celebration. “I was like, ‘It’ll be so fun, it’ll be like my babymoon is to go camping,’ ” she said. “And then, oh you do everything yourself. Cool.”
The Grammy nominee also shared about her excitement regarding her pregnancy. “I’m as excited as I can be,” she said. “I’ve been every emotion under the sun. I’ve been overwhelmed, I’ve been anxious, I’ve been happy, I’ve been overjoyed, I’ve been depressed. I’ve been all of it. The world is just a wild time and it’s a wild time to bring life into the world.”
Perry and Bloom remain undecided on their daughter’s name. “We’ve got options and she’ll tell us … I’ll look at her and go, ‘Oh yeah, you are her, you are that,'” Perry said.
