Kelsea Ballerini Performs Fun and Sweet Rendition of ‘Santa Baby’ For CMA’s ‘Country Christmas’

Kelsea Ballerini gave an epic performance of “Santa Baby” at the 2020 CMA Country Christmas special.

The Performance From Kelsea Ballerini

Ballerini hand-picked the Christmas classic that she performed. “I picked ‘Santa Baby’ because I really wanted to do something kind of fun and light on the show this year,” Ballerini told  Vermillion County First. “Obviously it’s been a crazy year, very heavy, and so I just wanted to kind of swing that back over to the other side and just be fun.”

Prior to her performance, she treated fans with a backstage clip of her getting ready. She performed the song acapella in her tour bus where she even messed up a lyric.

Ballerini took the stage donning an elegant red gown. This year’s show looked a little different than in years past. There was no live audience and it was recorded on a set. The set was decked out in Christmas and winter decorations but the spotlight was on Ballerini and her guitar. She took the holiday hit and turned it into a country crossover.

Her Favorite Christmas Tradition

Ahead of the special, the “Love Me Like You Mean It” singer shared her favorite family tradition. “My favorite family Christmas tradition is jammy day,” Ballerini laughed. “Christmas Eve is jammy day in our house. Someone buys the PJs, usually, it’s my mom. They keep progressively getting more embarrassing. We wear them all day.”

Ballerini also realizes the true meaning of the holiday and celebrates it by going to church with her loved ones. “Then we go to Christmas Eve services at church or to the grocery store, or where ever,” Ballerini added. “We’re always wearing them.  It’s always fun, but nerve-wracking to see what my mom cooks up that year.”
