Kid Rock’s Bar Deletes Social Media Accounts Following Former Employee’s Arrest

2020 wasn’t a great year for anyone, but it was especially bad for Kid Rock’s Bar. And 2021 isn’t looking any better.

It all started when the Nashville Mayor mandated bars to close at the start of the pandemic. The bar’s owner, Steve Smith, refused to close, blatantly disobeying the Mayor’s orders. The bar eventually did close but quickly found itself in trouble again after re-opening. The city fined Smith $2,5000 after refusing to follow social distancing and capacity restrictions. Smith called the Mayor a “communist” and told him to “get off his a**.”

Now, the bar is in hot water again. However, this time, it’s not actually their fault. For the past week, the FBI was looking for a man from the capital riots. Security footage shows the man wearing police gear and carrying a taser and zip ties. After a few days of searching, police identified the man as 30-year old Nashville resident Eric Munchel. And guess where he used to work? That’s right, he’s a former employee of Kid Rock’s Bar.

How Did Police Identify Kid Rock’s Bar’s Former Employee?

Smith has confirmed through his attorney that Munchel is a former employee of Kid Rock’s Bar. However, Smith reports that they fired Munchel several months ago.

“He was a former employee but was terminated several months ago. Steve Smith nor any of his organizations condone or support the actions that took place at our nation’s Capitol,” says a statement.

It looks like the controversy is the last straw for Smith and his bar. Since the news of Munchel went viral, Kid Rock’s Bar’s social media accounts have disappeared. Their Twitter account, @bigasshonkytonk, has gone private, and they appear to have deleted their Facebook and Instagram pages. Unfortunately, it seems that the damage has already been done to the bar’s reputation.

Munchel is charged with one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. He’s currently being held on a federal warrant at the Metro Nashville jail. However, he covered his entire face in every photo.

So, how did the police find Munchel? It was actually the result of a joint effort between the FBI and social media followers. A photo from the riots surfaced of Munchel with an older woman. People quickly identified the woman as Munchel’s mother. His mom did not wear any face coverings which made it very easy to identify her and then identify Munchel.

In conclusion, neither Munchel nor Kid Rock’s Bar can hide from the investigative savants of social media.
