Kraft Offers Customers $20 To Not Make Cheesecake This Holiday Season

As the annual holiday shopping continues, we are all aware of some pretty major shortages across the country. From clothing items to outerwear, or footwear, and even electronics, and food items, shoppers everywhere are regularly hearing the phrase, “out of stock.”

Now, one major company has figured out a way to combat this issue. Well, at least a little bit; as they are offering customers cold hard cash to forgo baking a holiday favorite treat.

This year, Kraft is using the shortages that are gripping the country this winter as a marketing opportunity. An opportunity to bring one of the company’s most popular items, cream cheese, to the forefront of our minds – even if the product isn’t available in stores.

Just Charge It To Kraft!

Kraft is offering their customers a limited opportunity that allows them to charge a $20 dessert to Kraft.

This, the company says, will combat the holiday bummers. Feelings that are sure to come as cheesecake lovers may not be able to get their hands on the delicious spread. A spread we all know is necessary to make some of our favorite holiday cheesecake desserts. It may not be a homemade cheesecake, but it’s definitely a deal; getting a delicious baked good on the company’s dime!

This offer will be available to customers for two days only from December 17 through December 18.

During this time, up to 18,000 Kraft customers will have the opportunity to snag a reimbursement IOU from Kraft. All the customers need to do after nabbing the unique opportunity is submit their receipt for their dessert to the company within a few weeks.

Leaning Into The Shortage Concerns

It’s a genius campaign, really. It helps the company combat the push-back they may receive as customers are routinely running into empty cream cheese shelves this winter. The campaign will also keep the Philadelphia Cream Cheese brand at the forefront of the customer’s mind.

“We’re investing millions of dollars on Philadelphia cream cheese,” says marketing director Basak Oguz in a recent statement to CNN Business.

Oguz also notes that the company is focusing on increasing production on some of the brand’s most popular products. To do this, the marketing director says, Kraft has decided to temporarily halt the production of “a very limited number” of Philadelphia products.

According to Kraft, the company saw a spike in sales across the country during the pandemic. This, of course, comes as more people were taking to baking – and snacking – at home during the lockdown.

Additionally, with more people taking to preparing their food at home, the demand for their cream cheese products jumped about 18%. This high number of sales continued into 2021.
