What’s Halloween without a trick or a treat? Krispy Kreme is encouraging people to dress up for Halloween with free doughnuts.

The company announced they will be giving free doughnuts to anyone who visits participating locations on Oct. 31. Visitors must wear a Halloween costume to be eligible for the promotion. They can pick a doughnut of their choice.

Krispy Kreme is also selling Halloween themed doughnuts.

Krispy Kreme had similar promotions on Halloween in years past. Additionally, the company offers a new promotion this year called “Sweet or Treat Saturdays”. The promotion will be on Saturdays between Oct. 10 and Halloween. Customers who purchase a dozen doughnuts can buy an additional dozen for $1. The company said the promotion is in the spirit of giving “to family, friends, or neighbors.”

“This Halloween, we’re trading scary for sweet and helping fans create new ways to safely enjoy the season,” said Dave Skena, the chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme, in a press release. “Instead of asking for sweet treats, let’s give them away to all the neighbors, family and friends we appreciate so much. It’s not a normal Halloween, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it a sweet one.”

While many areas haven’t canceled trick-or-treating, families may decide to celebrate at home this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Krispy Kreme plans to debut new Halloween themed donuts called Scary Sweet Monster Doughnuts. The company modeled the doughnuts after classic Universal monsters. The Frank Monster Doughnut, complete with pretzel bolts, takes its likeness after Frankenstein. Dracula is also the basis for the Drake Monster Doughnut, which is filled with raspberry filling. Meanwhile, the Wolfie Monster Doughnut, which is chocolate flavored, bears its likeness to the Wolf-Man

These doughnuts will be available for a limited time only, starting Oct. 5 until Halloween.
