Americans are celebrating this Fourth of July with something all-too-familiar – sweets and fast food. One of the most popular sweet tooth go-to hotspots is Krispy Kreme.
Krispy Kreme’s Fourth of July Deal
If you go soon you’ll get a fun patriotic surprise. The donut company will have its special “Star-Spangled Box” of donuts. Included in the box is the Freedom Ring donut, which is has icing and sprinkles decorated in a way that resembles the flag. Also in the Fourth of July box is the Patriotic Sprinkled Ring donut. This particular donut is dipped entirely in icing and then coated with some fun and patriotic edible decorations.
The Patriotic Eagle donut will be in the nest as well. It is a Cookies & Kreme completely coated in blue icing, red, white, and blue stripes. It has the finishing touch of an edible sugar cube that looks like a patriotic eagle. The Strawberry Shortcake donut is also in the summer box. This one is instead dipped in an all-red icing. It’s then coated in gold star sprinkles and has a strawberry filling on the inside.
It’s quite a sugary way to celebrate the holiday.
“This Fourth of July, many Americans are going to celebrate with family and friends not just our independence but also emerging freedom from the pandemic. We’re making these gatherings the sweetest parties of the summer with patriotic doughnuts and a fireworks-worthy deal,” Krispy Kreme chief marketer Dave Skena says in a press release, according to Newsweek.
There certainly seems to be a lot of celebrating in store this weekend. According to ABC News, the July 4th weekend is anticipated to be the busiest travel period since the start of the pandemic. It is predicted that about 43 million Americans will be on the road at some point over the holiday weekend.
Odds are some fast food places will get more business as people on the road are looking for food on the go.
Other Fourth of July Fast Food Deals
Krispy Kreme isn’t the only company getting festive before the holiday weekend.
Applebee’s is offering Star-Spangled Sips. This is a Fourth of July-themed cocktail with Tito’s Vodka, strawberry, lime, and frozen Captain Morgan daiquiri. Denny’s will have a breakfast plate for a nice early morning celebration. It is called “The Red, White and Blue Pancake Breakfast.” It comes with blueberry pancakes, strawberries, cream cheese icing, whipped cream, hashbrowns, two eggs, and a side of bacon or sausage.
If you go to Panera Bread and show them your COVID-19 vaccination card, you’ll get a free bagel from July 2 to July 4. Sonic even has a Red, White, and Blue Slush Float. It has vanilla ice cream, blue sonic slush, as well as real strawberries.
According to Eat This, grocery stores are also getting in on the festivities. Walmart has discounted prices on some of its party-sized, snack packs, and family-sized snacks, as well as popular side dishes for sharing.
