‘Law & Order: SVU’ Writer Drops Hints About Benson and Stabler: ‘A Lot To Talk About’

After over twenty-one years of waiting for this moment, it looks as though “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” fans may get a piece of what they’ve been waiting for. At least according to writer Julie Martin.

In a recent Tweet, the writer said that Special Victims Captain Olivia Benson and her former Special Victims Unit partner, Elliot Stabler are due for a “talk.”

“Don’t twitch, attention will be paid to Benson and Stabler,” the writer said in a recent Twitter post. “They have a lot to talk about in Season 23.

The comment was in response to other Twitter users asking the “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” writer what to expect in the upcoming season twenty-three premier of the popular NBC drama.

A Twitter Thread Leads To “Law and Order” Hints

The thread started with SussuWW asking the writers if they had a moment to give “Special Victims Unit” fans a hint as we approach the twenty-third season of the detective drama.

“@warrenleightTV@JulieMartinSVU@SVUWritersRoom Hey guys, everyone is so into it? Lots of writing, any time to share?” the Twitter user wrote.

Twitter users KerryEOP4L and SVUaddicted89 were quick to respond.

“September 23rd. Buckle Up,” wrote SVUaddicted89. “Tissues, beverages and a blood pressure cuff — optional but recommended.”

“Julie, we never got the diner scene or Moondance last season will we get it in the premiere??” inquired “Law and Order” fan Kerry EOP4L. “I ain’t mad atcha, just asking. I have my tissues, cuff and wine ready but gurl- also a little twitchy with fan PTSD. Pinky swear we will be ok? Happy tears?”

Obviously, the “Law and Order” writer couldn’t share much else about the upcoming twenty-third season and its premiere episode. However, the promise that the two characters will be having “the talk” is making a lot of fans very happy.

Benson and Stabler Will Always Be A Fan-Favorite

Since the hit show’s premiere in 1999, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” fans have loved the connection that Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her former partner Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) shared. The duo’s on-screen partnership ended in 2011, however, when Meloni left the show.

Before Elliot Stabler left the “Law snd Order: Special Victims Unit” at the end of season 12, however, the duo had already established an intense bond. While the “will they or won’t they” dynamic is very popular among television duos, the connection between the two detectives seemed to go beyond this classic storyline. So when fans realized Stabler’s exit was likely final, many were understandably upset with the change.

That is, until last spring. As the newest addition to the “Law and Order” franchise, “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” was introduced, fans were delighted to see the two characters were reconnecting in a history-making crossover event. The episode featured the duo reconnecting as Elliot Stabler faces a devastating and unexpected loss.
