On Thursday evening, rapper Lil Wayne endorsed President Donald Trump for the 2020 presidential election after the two came together for a meeting on various issues.
The rapper met with Trump to discuss criminal reform and the president’s plan for the Black community going forward. Lil Wayne – real name Dwayne Carter Jr. – evidently came away from the meeting impressed. In fact, he posted on his official Twitter account saying it was “a great meeting.”
“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done,” Carter wrote.
Lil Wayne Not the First Rapper to Endorse Trump
Carter shared a photo of the pair together as they met to talk about certain issues that are important to the rapper. The two seemed to have a positive dialogue as they both smiled and gave a thumbs up to the camera. Subsequently, Carter endorsed Trump because of his history of criminal justice reform along with liking Trump’s Platinum Plan.
Previously, legendary rapper Ice Cube worked with Trump’s team on the Platinum Plan. The plan promises to inject $500 billion into Black communities. Additionally, it will supposedly provide greater access to equitable education and jobs.
However, Ice Cube did not specifically endorse Trump. Regardless, the rapper received heavy criticism for working with Trump so close to the November election.
Likewise, Carter’s meeting with the president is only 5 days prior to Election Day, which may cause a backlash. Yet, Carter seems optimistic that Trump will keep his word and will follow through on his promises.
In addition to Carter, rapper Lil Pump endorsed President Trump recently in a short expletive-filled social media rant. Lil Pump is supporting Trump because he said he doesn’t want to pay an extra 33% in taxes under a Biden administration.
Similarly, rapper 50 Cent also seemed to endorse Trump for the same financial reasons. But, not long after the rapper had a change of heart and denounced Trump altogether.
