For those who wish to worship and enjoy the view from 130 feet up, there’s a remote church that sits atop a pillar.
The US Sun shared the lonely image on Twitter on Christmas. The post detailed news describing a remote church that sits on top of a single stone pillar. “Mystery of world’s loneliest church which sits alone atop 130ft stone pillar and no one knows how it got there.” Those who build this lovely structure obviously had no fear of heights.

Studies date this church back to the ninth or tenth century. This means the earliest foundations of the church likely date back to over 1000 years ago.
This mysterious remote church sits at the top of the Katshki Pillar in Georgia. It is still unknown how this monolith limestone structure came to be and who built it. It’s viewed as a “pillar of life” and a “symbol of the true cross.” This statement relates to the Bible when Jesus was crucified on the cross.
This structure can be added to the list of landmarks that appeared with no clear explanation. Similar structures include Stonehenge and the Pyramids.
Similar Structures to Remote Church
As stated earlier, this mysterious remote church has something in common with a few other structures. For instance, these structures were built with no explanation as to why they were constructed or who put them there.
Although there is no clear answer as to why or who constructed Stonehenge, archaeologists have their theories. Although the monument was likely built from 3000 BC to 2000 BC, it is one of the most famous landmarks in England. It could also have been a burial ground from its earliest constructions. Human bone had been also discovered after a bank and ditch were first dug up as early as 3000 BC. This continued for five hundred years.
The Egyptian pyramids are also one of the world’s greatest mysteries. They have been described as some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history. It’s been suggested the pyramids were built during a time when Egypt was at its richest and powerful.
