On Wednesday, Miller Lite hilariously took a shot at Bud Light on Twitter making fun of the company’s recent Pumpkin Spice seltzer release.
The last couple of years, hard seltzers have been a popular addition to beer company lineups. As brands like White Claw and Truly released flavored hard seltzers as their flagship beer, numerous other preexisting breweries jumped on the bandwagon. In fact, classic beers like Coors, Michelob Ultra, and Bud Light have joined the seltzer craze.
Additionally, even some celebrities have come out with their own hard seltzer. Country stars Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan have each released seltzers. Bryan’s Two Lane Brewing added Southern-inspired flavored hard seltzers to their line of alcoholic beverages. And Shelton jumped on the trend as well when his Smithworks Vodka company created a new line of hard seltzer lemonades.
In contrast, some other breweries have stuck to their guns and shunned the hard seltzer movement. Busch Beer specifically went out of its way to assure fans of their beer that they would not join the hard seltzer trend. And it sounds like Miller Lite is taking a similar stance on the matter with their recent social media diss of Bud Light.
Earlier today, Bud Light’s Twitter account posted a photo of one of their newest flavors: a Pumpkin Spice seltzer. That’s where Miller Lite drew the line and decided to chime in on the matter. The company retweeted their rival’s post and added a simple yet scathing remark.
“Apparently we’re the only ones still making beer,” Miller Lite amusingly responded on Twitter.
Bud Light Coming Out With Three New Hard Seltzer Flavors
Not long ago, an unofficial list of Bud Light’s newest hard seltzer flavors were revealed. While it wasn’t confirmed right away, the leak gained traction with the company’s official announcement of their Pumpkin Spice seltzer.
Earlier this summer, a beer blog shared a leaked photo of the newest flavors’ beer labels. While they looked legitimate, sometimes you just never know with these things. Yet the Twitter account “mybeer buzz” seemed to hit the nail on the head with this one. However, the blog revealed only three of the four new flavors that will release as part of Bud Light’s “Fall Flannel” 12-pack.
Bud Light already has a variety of seltzer flavors to choose from. The brewery’s original lineup includes four flavors: Lemon Lime, Strawberry, Mango, and Black Cherry. They come in a 12-count variety pack and contain only 100 calories per seltzer at 5% ABV.
The newest additions will share a similar 100-calorie, 5% ABV as part of its nutrition facts. While we already know about the Pumpkin Spice flavor, the blog did share two more flavors, including Toasted Marshmallow and Maple Pear. Yet Bud Light had one more flavor in store for hard seltzer fans when it added Apple Crisp to the mix.
The “Fall Flannel” 12-packs will be available nationwide this September 6 until the end of October, according to Food & Wine.
