Mötley Crüe Drummer Tommy Lee on Donald Trump Winning 2020 Election: ‘I’m Out of Here’

by Chris Haney

The legendary drummer of Mötley Crüe, Tommy Lee, made a bold statement when he promised to leave the United States if President Trump is re-elected next month.

During an interview with The Big Issue, the musician said he will move back to Greece if Trump wins the election. Lee was born in Athens, Greece.

“Dude, I swear to god if that happens then I’m coming over to visit the U.K. I’m out of here,” Lee said emphatically in the interview. “I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to Greece, and get a house on one of the islands.”

The famous drummer said he thinks Trump has embarrassed America. In addition, Lee says people around the world wonder what has happened to our country.

“The thing that stings the most is that I feel like we’re embarrassing,” Lee explained in the interview. “I feel like people in Europe and the rest of the world look at America and think: ‘What are you guys doing over there? Stop voting for celebrities and get someone real to run the country.'”

Tommy Lee Has a History of Criticizing Trump

Lee’s recent interview is not the first time the musician has spoken out against Trump’s presidency. His criticisms of the president date back to at least two years ago.

Lee spoke out in 2018 because of Trump’s response to the California wildfires that killed at least 85 people. At the time, Lee answered Trump’s tweet with a tweet of his own.

“Can you be anymore insensitive you f—–g moron,” Lee wrote in response to Trump’s Nov. 10, 2018 tweet.

Additionally, Lee slammed Trump in March for his poor management of the COVID-19 pandemic. The drummer retweeted a letter written by Craig Alan Wilkins that strongly criticized the president.

Furthermore, the Mötley Crüe member was unapologetic on Oct. 2 as news broke of Trump and the first lady testing positive for COVID-19. He responded to Trump’s tweet that he tested positive by calling the news “karma.”

During the pandemic, Lee has used his downtime to write music and record a new album. In fact, the new album “Andro” will release later this week on Friday, Oct. 16.

Politics and pandemic aside, Lee is ready to get back on the road and tour again. The drummer says he can not wait to feel the energy of a live audience again and expects future concerts to be epic.

“I can just imagine what it’s going to be like being on stage with that many people and that energy when it’s OK to be together again,” said Lee with excitement. “It’s going to be priceless – that kind of energy I’m probably never going to see again in my lifetime. Can you imagine what that’s going to be like?”
