Adrian Peterson knows all too well what it’s like to suffer a knee injury. Since he’s been there and recovered from it, Peterson is now ready to help those with the same injury.
The running back for the Detroit Lions suffered a torn ACL on Christmas Eve in 2011. However, Peterson’s made a full recovery and now wants to give three fellow NFL football players a present of advice.
TMZ Sports reports that the future Hall of Famer’s been in touch with Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr. Barkley’s tear came during a Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears. The GIants player immediately reached out to Peterson, he says.
Beckham’s devasting knee injury happened on Oct. 25 when he was trying to make a tackle following an interception against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Peterson also says that he’s reaching out to Joe Burrow soon. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback tore his ACL, too, on Nov. 22.
The 35-year old is really hoping that his words and story will influence the guys in a big way.
“To be that poster child for [ACL recovery] is what I envisioned,” Peterson says. “Because now people, they look at it, and they say, ‘You know what? I can do that. I’ll be able to come back.'”
Peterson came back and had an MVP season. He plans on handing over some of his rehab routines, workouts, and milestone he hit along the way. Peterson wants to be there for support.
Adrian Peterson Wants to Prepare The 3 Athletes Mentally
Additionally, he doesn’t only want to be there for the physical recovery, but also the mental part.
“I’ve always had the mindset of not allowing the world to box you in — not allowing what other ones might see as hard or impossible,” Peterson admitted. “Don’t let that box you in where you can’t open your mind to realize that we are incredible human beings that God has possessed with the ability to do some amazing things if we are able to allow our minds to go outside the box and do the impossible.”
Saquon Barkley Surgery Success
Saquon Barkley has undergone surgery to repair his torn ACL.
Barkley’s procedure happened in October. His mom, Tonya Johnson shared an image of Barkley post-surgery. “Surgery was a success,” she writes in a post, which includes a picture of her son in a hospital bed.
Barkley is expected to make a full recovery. He plans on returning at the beginning of next season with the amount of time he has to rehab his injury.
Odell Beckham Jr. Ready for Recovery Journey
Beckham told his followers, “Sit back and relax n watch how God work … Now let the journey begin.”
The receiver’s mom is sharing a photo of Beckham after surgery, as well.
Beckham plans to make a full recovery for the 2021 season.
