Rider on Tennessee Mountain Coaster Ride Severely Injured After Flying Out of Car Onto Track

A vacation in the mountains of East Tennessee resulted in severe injuries for one tourist this week. Reports stated that the individual was injured while riding the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster.

PEOPLE.com shared the news about the injury in the popular tourist destination on Wednesday (March 31). The event reportedly took place on Monday (March 29).

This individual landed on the track following the ejection. As of the evening of March 31, details about the individual have not been released. However, some details of the incident leading to the injury have been shared.

PEOPLE.com cited information from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development for the article. And, according to the publication, no representatives of the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster attraction had agreed to comment on the incident by the evening of March 31.

Individual Injured on Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster Reportedly Sustained Injuries to Head, Ankle, Wrist

The injured individual was reportedly ejected from the vehicle he or she was riding in as it entered a curve of the coaster. This curve was located near a “Kodak camera.” The rider was thrown about 10 feet from the vehicle onto the track.

The rider reportedly sustained several injuries as a result of the ejection. The injuries sustained were to his or her head, ankle, and wrist, according to the article. Officials reportedly closed the ride after the injury took place. The company had not commented on the incident.

The individual involved in the accident on the attraction reportedly sustained “serious” injuries.

However, according to the report by PEOPLE.com, the Gatlinburg attraction was following the state’s protocols for such attractions. The ride was able to reopen because of this. It reportedly reopened on Tuesday (March 30).
