2020 Tokyo Olympics Day 2: What, When, Where to Watch?

After the pandemic pushed things back an entire year, we are finally seeing some summer Olympic action. The games kicked off yesterday with a memorable opening ceremony. Then, some of the best amateur athletes on Earth gave their all to represent their respective countries. Today, we’re moving into day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics. There is plenty to see.

Like yesterday’s Opening Ceremony, viewers can watch most of the day 2 Tokyo Olympic action on NBC. However, some other networks will also have coverage. So, audiences can plan out a full day of Olympic sporting events. Those tuning in today can see events ranging from beach volleyball to weightlifting and skateboarding. So, there’s something for just about everyone.

Before we dig into the Tokyo Olympics day 2 schedule, it is important to note that all the dates and times are USA Eastern Time. With that out of the way. Let’s look at the events happening today.

NBC Coverage of Tokyo Olympics Day 2

NBC has the bulk of the Olympics coverage. So, you’ll find most of the most popular games on either NBC, NBCSN, or the NBC Sports app. Additionally, the network has an official website set up to stream the coverage. So, here’s what they have for day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics.

Their coverage kicks off at 9 am with men’s volleyball. In that game, Team USA will be facing off against France. That event coverage ends at 10:45. That is when the 3×3 basketball game tips off. Some NBC stations will cover that event until 2:45 pm. However, their coverage of day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics is vast. So, during that same time frame, other stations will cover women’s water polo. Today’s water polo competition is between team USA and Japan.

Day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics really picks up at 2:45 pm. At that time, NBC will have the swimming qualifying heats, the men’s beach volleyball qualifying round, and men’s team gymnastics. All of those events will run until 6 pm. Then, the men’s gymnastics will return from 8 pm to 11:30 pm.

The women’s beach volleyball qualifying round holds that same time slot. So do the swimming finals.

NBC’s coverage of day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics will wrap up with the men’s street skateboarding qualifying round. That event runs from 11:30 pm until 2 am. Team USA faces off against Argentina at midnight. That competition ends at 2 am.

CNBC will have two events from day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics as well. First, they have softball. Team USA takes on Australia from 8 pm to 1 am. Then, viewers can stay tuned and watch the USA take on Japan in men’s water polo.

Other Networks’ Coverage

The USA Network will have almost as much coverage of day 2 of the Tokyo Olympics as NBC. Their coverage kicks off at 10 am with both the women’s weightlifting final and the boxing elimination rounds. Coverage of those events runs until 8 pm. They will also have coverage of the judo and taekwondo finals during that timeframe.

USA Network’s Tokyo Olympics day 2 coverage continues at 8 pm. They will have the men’s street skateboarding qualifying and final rounds. They will also have the women’s cycling final race as well as men’s basketball 3×3 games. That coverage ends at 2 am.

The Olympic Channel will have the men’s and women’s first-round tennis matches. They’ll have both singles and doubles matches. Their coverage starts at 10 pm and ends at 2 am.
