Let’s turn to the knitting portion of the Tokyo Olympics and our gold-medal favorite Tom Daley.

We’re only sort of kidding. Daley is the gold medal-winning diver from Great Britain. This is his third Olympics — he earned his first team when he was 14 years old.

And because Daley has so much time between events, he brought his knitting to the Tokyo Olympics. He came to the women’s 3-meter springboard competition this past weekend and brought his needles with him. Photos of Daley knitting then went viral. He also knitted through Monday’s preliminary round for the men’s 3-meter.

We’re now here to tell you what Daley was knitting. And it’s so adorable. He created an outfit for his dog, Izzy the Frenchie.

Izzy revealed the outfit on his Instagram account. We’re assuming Izzy’s human wrote the message with the video:

“Sooo excited!! Did everyone catch #goldmedalist @tomdaley making my jumper at the Olympics?”

Wait, There’s More Tom Daley Craftiness From Tokyo Olympics

Tom Daley also has his own knitting Instagram page. He calls it “madewithlovebytomdaley.” Daley showed off more of his knitting work. He’s basically designing a line of jumpers for man’s best friend. And for his best friends, too.

Daley wrote:

“I made my friends some doggy jumpers! It is the cutest little pattern to follow by @knittingland. How cute do they all look?! I was making another one at the pool yesterday lol. What do you think”

The Tokyo Olympic social media account really gave Daley’s work a push with a tweet this weekend. We knew Daley and his diving partner Matty Lee won the gold in synchro platform. But Daley is more than just his diving. He’s crafty, too. His knitting Instagram page has 540,000 followers.

Izzy’s jumper isn’t his first project at the Tokyo Olympics. He also knitted a holder for his coveted gold medal, the one that took three Olympics to achieve. Of course, he showed his medal pouch on social media. He captioned the video:

“Learning to knit and crochet has helped me so much through these Olympics and we won GOLD yesterday. I made a little medal case too! 🇬🇧🇯🇵 YAY!”

Daley’s Medal Pouch Features Union Jack

Daley’s gold medal pouch features the Union Jack on one side. Flip it over to see the Japanese flag on the other side. Now, there will be no way Daley confuses his Tokyo Olympics medal with other awards he’s won throughout his career. His Olympic medal case also includes two bronzes.

Daley is 27 and the British love him. He was 14 when he won his first Olympic medal. Daley did so in front of the home crowd at the 2012 Olympics in London.

He said in interviews that he first brought his knitting to Tokyo for a test event at the new Olympic venue. So he put all his waiting time to good use.

“Sometimes there’s 45 minutes in between each dive,” Daley said. “So I’d sit there and knit and just take my mind off the competition completely. I’m obsessed!’

His next event is Friday. There’s no telling how many doggie jumpers he can crank out for friends.
