From victories to upsets, Team USA continues to dominate in Tokyo. Since they arrived at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Americans have done a stellar job bringing home the gold in their first week. Below is a list of all the Americans who won gold in the first week of the Games.

Caeleb Dressel now has his first individual gold medal. The 24-year-old won gold in the men’s 100-meter freestyle. Before that, he had won medals in events with his teammates. However, Dressel won his third gold medal after breaking his own world record in the men’s 100-meter butterfly.

Amber English, one of the best skeet shooters worldwide, received her first Olympic gold medal in the event. The 31-year-old is also a U.S. Army 1st lieutenant.

In the men’s skeet shooting event, 32-year-old Vincent Hancock picked up his third individual gold medal. He took gold in the 2008 Olympics as well as the 2012 Olympics.

Americans Continue to Command at Olympics

Robert Finke got Olympic gold when he became the first male to win the 800-meter freestyle event. The event debuted in the men’s category for the Olympics. It was the 21-year-old’s first gold medal.

Lydia Jacoby, 17, became the first Alaska native to win a gold medal at the Summer Olympics. She picked up a victory in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Michael Phelps’ protegé, Chase Kalisz made Olympic history when he became the first American to win a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 27-year-old won the 400-meter medley. In Rio four years ago, he won silver in the same event.

Making history again, Lee Kiefer became the first fencer from Team USA to win a gold medal in individual foil. She won the third overall gold medal for the Americans.

Swimming superstar Katie Ledecky proved once again she could dominate in the pool. The 24-year-old won gold in the first female 1500-meter freestyle. She ended her 2020 Olympics with another gold in the women’s 800-meter freestyle for the third time in a row.

After Simone Biles pulled out, Suni Lee delivered for her country and her teammates in the individual all-around gymnastics competition. She also became the first immigrated American to win gold. In surfing, 28-year-old Carissa Moore won gold for the U.S. in the women’s shortboard competition.

William Shaner won gold in the 10-meter air rifle event. He came into the Games having already won gold in the 2020 World Cup. This marked his first Olympic gold medal.

At only 18-years-old, Anastasija Zolotic triumphed in the 57-kilogram Taekwondo event in Tokyo. It is also her first gold medal.

The American relay team in swimming also saw victory. The group included Dressel, Blake Pieroni, Bowe Becker, Zach Apple, and alternate Brooks Curry. The 3-on-3 women’s basketball team won the gold in the sport’s premiere at the Games. The team included Stefanie Dolson, Allisha Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Jackie Young.
