On Saturday, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced his engagement during a television show but didn’t reveal his bride-to-be’s identity.
Earlier this week, multiple outlets reported that the NFL MVP was dating actress Shailene Woodley, but fans were stumped after Rodgers left her name out during the announcement.
Later, outlets confirmed that Woodley was, in fact, the lucky lady.
Rodgers is no stranger to dating women in the spotlight. He’s had relationships with actress Oliva Munn and former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick.
From 2014 to 2017, Rodgers dated Munn, and after their split, Munn revealed the details behind Rodger’s estrangement from his family.
During an interview with Andy Cohen, Munn admitted that their relationship was why Rodgers no longer spoke to his family. However, Munn said it started months before they started dating.
“I don’t think either side of the road is clean, but I do think it’s not OK when you try to stand on someone’s shoulders and then throw dirt in their face, which is what I think they did with him.”
Munn wasn’t the only one vocal after the split. Rodgers also talked about how difficult it was to have a public relationship.
“When you are living out a relationship in the public eye, it’s definitely … it’s difficult,” he said in 2017.
“It has some extra constraints, because you have other opinions about your relationship, how it affects your work and, you know, just some inappropriate connections.”
The Love Triangle Between Aaron Rodgers, Woodley & Patrick
The following year, in 2018, Patrick and Rodgers went public with their relationship. After the couple bought a house together, fans speculated that wedding bells were in their future.
“That’s one of those things,” Patrick said in November. “You can’t be attached to something going a certain way. If you really want something to happen, there’s that equal energy of being afraid that it’s not going to happen. You just have to let it go and be like, ‘Well, am I having fun today? Yup. Then life’s good.'”
Following their split in July, Terez Owens reported that Rodgers was now seeing Woodley. Ironically, Patrick was the one who introduced the two.
While at the time it was merely speculation, the news was confirmed this month.
Woodley is currently in Canada filming a movie called Misanthrope. Rodgers’ NFL season ended after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Packers in the NFC Championship.
