On Sunday, May 9, devastating news came out of Raleigh, North Carolina. Tyrell Antar Cohen, who is Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, was found dead in Wake County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Tyrell Cohen was apparently electrocuted to death after he tried to climb an electrical substation. He was 25 years old. This report comes from the sheriff’s office spokesperson, Eric Curry.
Sunday evening, the Raleigh police sent out a news release that confirmed Cohen’s passing. Before his death, Tarik Cohen had asked the public to help find his missing brother. Tyrell Cohen had been reported missing by his twin brother over the weekend. In the now-deleted tweet, he asked if anyone had seen him in the area surrounding Raleigh. Cohen also added that his brother was “possibly injured.”
According to Curry, Tyrell was fleeing the scene of a car accident near Interstate 540 and Six Forks Road. This incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday. The Raleigh Police Department was searching for him but could not locate Tarik Cohen’s brother. Eventually, the officers called off the search.
Curry explained further that after the search party was called off, the Cohen family filed a missing person report for Tyrell. Consequently, the Police Department resumed their search for him on Sunday morning.
Around 9 a.m. Sunday morning, the sheriff’s department received a call from a Duke Energy substation. The employee who placed that call said that they had found a body. Sadly, the body was Tyrell Cohen’s. He had reportedly attempted to up into the power equipment.
Curry explained, “He entered the substation, which may have been resulting from the accident.”
