The Bella Twins, Brie and Nikki, might be making their in-ring return to World Wrestling Entertainment after retiring from action.
Both twin sisters (yes, they really are twin sisters) retired from professional wrestling in 2019. But their interest to return seems to be piqued by a couple of things. One is the sites for future WrestleManias, which is WWE’s biggest pay-per-view event in its calendar year. Another is letting Brie’s children see their mom in the ring.
In recent years, their interest has been on their E! Network show, “Total Bellas.” That show is a spin-off from “Total Divas,” which sees a number of WWE female wrestlers go through their normal-yet-chaotic lives.
Bella Twins Excited About WrestleMania Future Sites
What led to this get-back-in-the-ring chatter? Well, the Bella Twins, 37-years-old, were guests on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with guest host Mario Lopez.
Lopez asked them if they’d ever consider getting back into the ring. Nikki said, “Oh, definitely!”
“When I heard about Dallas 2022, Hollywood 2023, I got chills,” Nikki Bella said. “And I said, ‘Brie, we never have gone after the tag titles.’ They were made for us. There’s another run in the Bella Twins.”
Another reason Nikki and Brie are interested in coming back is to give Brie’s three children a possible chance to see Mom shine in the ring.
Brie Bella Wants Children To See Mom In Wrestling Ring
Brie remembers facing off against Stephanie McMahon, daughter of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and a WWE executive herself, in a match at SummerSlam in 2014.
“I’ll never forget when we came back after our match, and her three little girls were in what we call gorilla — which is the place before we go out into the ring,” Brie Bella said
“When we came back to gorilla, to see their faces when she came through the curtain, they were like, ‘Mom,'” she noted, imitating an emotional response from the kids. “The goosebumps, the tears. They just looked at their mom like she was a superhero.
“And I really want to be able to wrestle in front of Matteo, Buddy, and Birdie and come back and them look at me the same way that Stephanie’s daughters looked at her,” Brie Bella said to Lopez.
Here’s the match Brie Bella of the Bella Twins had against Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam.
Whether they come back or not to in-ring action remains to be seen. They’ve battled some injuries in the past, so their involvement back with WWE is, at this point, simply them expressing their desires.
But they were quite effective in getting their characters over with fans. Sometimes, they were favorites; other times, they were not.
The Bella Twins remain committed to their “Total Bellas” show for now. If they return to the WWE, then it’s a good assumption to make that they will continue doing the show. WWE is one of that show’s producers, so it’s a decent tie-in between the show, the organization, and marketing too.
Pro wrestling fans will have to wait and see what the final decision is from the Bella Twins.
