Country singer-songwriter Blake Shelton congratulated JJ Watt after the longtime Houston defensive star signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

Shelton, who is gearing up for his Monday night coach duties on NBC’s “The Voice,” took to social media with a direct message for Watt and other NFL teams.

Keim is the Arizona Cardinals’ general manager.

JJ Watt made it official himself on Monday, taking to Twitter and letting the world know where he landed.

It was just earlier this month that the longtime Texans star asked for and received his release from Houston. He spent 11 seasons playing for the Texans, anchoring a strong defensive line while dealing with injuries, too.

JJ Watt Signs Two-Year, $31 Million Deal With Cardinals

His contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is reportedly a two-year deal worth $31 million with the Cardinals. Of that amount, $23 million is guaranteed.

In joining Arizona, JJ Watt reconnects with two former Texans in wide receiver Deandre Hopkins and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

Hopkins, a favorite target of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, was traded from Houston by former Texans coach Bill O’Brien.

Joseph was the defensive backs’ coach in JJ Watt’s first three seasons in Houston.

The Cardinals have former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray running their offense under head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

A few people on social media were trying to pitch an idea where the Cardinals trade Murray to Houston for Watson. No word as to whether either the Cardinals or Texans actually are discussing such a trade at all.

Watt Handled Trade Rumors By Taking Off To Hawaii

JJ Watt is a player whose on-field play will be remembered, but his off-field work during and after Hurricane Harvey will stick with Houston fans.

With that said, the trade rumors that were swirling around Watt’s head became a bit too much for him and his wife to handle.

What did he do? Watt made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and said while the trade chatter went on the NFL, he was sipping on Mai-Tai’s.

“I process it by going to Hawaii for a week,” Watt said. “… So, that was a good way to cope with it. And I might just head back there.”

Pittsburgh Steelers fans wanted JJ Watt to join his brothers on that team, but he chose to head west and play in the Valley of the Sun.
