Twitter has gone wild after Brett Favre endorsed President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. The former NFL legend became the latest celebrity to back Trump in his re-election campaign.

Favre said he believed in Second Amendment rights as well as freedom of speech and religion. He believes Trump embodies these principles and values of hard-working citizens.

In the tweet, Favre wrote, “My Vote is for what makes this country great, freedom of speech & religion, 2nd Amnd, hard-working tax-paying citizens, police & military. In this election, we have freedom of choice, which all should respect. For me & these principles, my Vote is for @RealDonaldTrump.”

Critics Condemned Brett Favre For His Endorsement

Several critics of both Trump and Favre condemned the former quarterback for the endorsement. One user brought past controversies involving Favre. For his instance, they mentioned $1 million Favre received in Mississippi welfare money for speeches he didn’t make. Favre agreed to repay the misallocated money.

Several users also brought up when Favre sent unsolicited nudes to a model who worked for the New York Jets in 2010.

The Former NFL Player Also Had His Fair Share of Supporters

Several Trump supporters came to Favre’s defense as well. Users on Twitter supported Favre’s endorsement of the president. One user wrote, ” Born a die-hard bears fan and respected you while you were in green bay always a class act but I respect you way more for this tweet.”
