Brett Favre and Other NFL Greats Honor Kevin Greene
Kevin Greene is a Pro Football Hall of Famer, who was one of the most feared pass rushers in the league.
He passed away Monday at the age of 58.
Brett Favre shared his induction into the Hall of Fame alongside Greene, as well as Orlando Pace and Marvin Harrison in 2016.
The loss has impacted the NFL community in a hard way. Other than Favre, Greene’s death has been painful to many on and off the field.
“The entire Pro Football Hall of Fame family mourns the passing of Kevin Greene,” HOF President and CEO David Baker said. “I regarded him as a personal friend and a true Hall of Famer in every sense. He possessed the most incredible can-do attitude of anyone I ever met.”
Greene’s Legendary Career
Greene played from 1985 to 1999. Throughout his time in the NFL, he was a player for the Rams, Steelers, Panthers, and 49ers.
As an Auburn legend, Greene left a lasting legacy behind. During his career, he earned five Pro Bowl honors, two All-Pro nods, and one NFL Defensive MVP award during his career.
“He was a great player, but more than that, he was a great man. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin’s wife, Tara, and their entire family. We will forever keep his legacy alive to serve as inspiration for future generations. The Hall of Fame flag will be flown at half-staff in Kevin’s memory,” adds Baker.
The Pittsburgh Steelers released a statement in regards to the loss of Greene, who played three years out of a 15-year career for Pittsburgh:
