On Tuesday afternoon, Brittany Matthews – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ fiancée – encouraged locals to get outside and enjoy the weather while it lasted.
Much of the northern half of the United States is still experiencing temperatures in the 20s, 30s and 40s. In fact, last week the South got rocked by a winter storm. Snowy, icy conditions left areas of the country like Texas in a state of emergency. Power outages across the state led to President Biden declaring a major disaster in Texas. He even ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local recovery efforts because of the crisis.
However, much of the country has seen a significant increase to warmer temperatures. Many southern states, and some in the midwest and southwest, are now seeing temperatures rise above 70 degrees. One of the many states that have enjoyed a warmer day is Missouri.
Matthews and her husband-to-be live in the Kansas City area and seem to be loving the respite from the winter weather. Kansas City’s weather forecast is expecting temperatures to drop back into the 40s on Wednesday. Yet Matthews is obviously thankful for one nice day outside in the middle of winter. Additionally, she encouraged her Twitter followers to get outside and enjoy the warmer day if they could.
“It’s 70 degrees in KC right now, just thought I would let everyone know to get outside and enjoy this,” Matthews tweeted.
Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes Thank Kansas City For Birth Celebrations
It’s been an exciting week for Brittany Matthews and her NFL star fiancé Patrick Mahomes. On Saturday, Matthews gave birth to the couple’s first child, a little girl named Sterling Skye Mahomes.
The love affair between Kansas City and Mahomes was on full display as he and Matthews welcomed Sterling into the world. The city quickly fell in love with Mahomes as he led the Chiefs back to prominence.
The team selected the quarterback in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Ever since, he’s been a revelation in the league. In the last three seasons, he’s led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game each year. The team made the Super Bowl the last two seasons, and won Super Bowl LIV. The city adores Mahomes and his family, and they proved that once again after the birth of his daughter.
The city’s Union Station building lit up pink and white to celebrate the arrival of the newest addition to the Mahomes family. The iconic Kansas City building shared a congratulatory message with the engaged couple on Twitter. Brittany Matthews made sure to acknowledge the gesture with a message of her own.
“Y’all are just so sweet,” Matthews wrote in her heartfelt response.
Mahomes also responded to another Twitter post about the Union Station building. Local news station KCTV5 News shared a similar video of the pink and white building congratulating the new parents.
“Love this city,” Mahomes responded on Twitter while adding a heart emoji.
