Brittany Matthews Perfectly Sums up Parenthood with Relatable Comment on Naps

For so many new parents, the concept of sleep becomes such a complicated thing. Many introduce the idea of “shifts” to their sleep schedule. Some just abandon sleeping altogether.

Brittany Matthews, however, cherishes naps in a new way now that she and Patrick Mahomes have become parents. She commented on her newfound love for mid-day siestas on Twitter earlier today.

“Naps are something special nowadays,” Brittany Matthews shared. And who can blame her? Even grabbing ten minutes of shut-eye in the middle of the day can work wonders on a new mom. As she alludes to, when you have a baby, you take sleep whenever you can. And I mean whenever.

The double standard of sleep when it comes to babies is honestly quite unfair. Babies can fall asleep whenever they want, no matter what time of day. Parents, however, must always be prepared to tend to a baby’s needs, regardless of their own physical exhaustion. When you really think about it, the whole system is quite unfair, and frankly flawed.

Brittany Matthews on Becoming a New Parent

Obviously becoming a parent for the first time is never easy. Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes now know that first hand. However, the couple has a ton of support coming from their friends, family, and all of Kansas City. Brittany Matthews has made sure to share her appreciation for the supporting cast on Twitter.

“Honestly just feeling extremely blessed for all the people around me,” Matthews said on Twitter on Friday. “[They] have made this transition for Patrick and me so perfect and smooth.”

Here are some of those supporting Brittany Matthews and Patrick Mahomes as they embark on their journey of parenthood. A couple of Patrick Mahomes pass catchers have chimed on their congratulations and even offered to help. For instance, Travis Kelce sent his love to Brittany, saying “congrats mom!!” to the new mother. Mecole Hardman offered his hand in babysitting, asking “can I babysit? I’m ready!”

Other than that, the Kansas City Union Station also put on a spectacular light show to celebrate the birth of Sterling Skye Mahomes. Brittany Matthews has already shown her appreciation for them on Twitter. While Matthews and Mahomes may have a long journey ahead of them, they certainly won’t have to do it alone.
