Bubba Wallace is known for his successful career as a professional stock car racing driver. As of right now, he is competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.
He sports the iconic No. 23 Toyota Camry representing 23XI Racing. His next race in the Cup Series is on March 21 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Today, however, he announced that he will return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Bubba Wallace Truck Series
In the past, Wallace was involved with truck racing as well. He had been a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing and competed in the Camping World Truck Series. He drove the No. 54 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
He has won the event six times already.
Now Wallace announced he will be driving the No. 11 Spencer Davis Motorsport Toyota Tundra. He will have Columbia Sportswear as the primary sponsor. The race will be on March 27 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“I’m pumped to get to Bristol and run on the dirt in the No. 11 Tundra. This is a race I’ve had circled on my calendar for the Cup race, so to be able to add the Truck race and have Columbia come on board just adds to the excitement for that week … I have the one win in the Truck Series at Eldora and it was a lot of fun. I may need to pull some notes from that race to prepare, but I’m just really looking forward to getting back in a Tundra and starting the Bristol weekend with a win,” Wallace said, according to Motorsport.
Bubba Wallace is not the only Cup driver to sign up for the Bristol Truck dirt race. Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, and Chase Briscoe are all appearing in the race as well.
Fans are optimistic about Wallace’s performance, as his race at Eldora specifically showcased his talent on the dirt.
Bubba Wallace Next Gen
In 2022, the Next Gen vehicle is anticipated to hit the tracks.
According to the NASCAR site, Bubba Wallace got the chance to drive the car on March 17 at the Richmond Raceway. He didn’t talk to any other drivers who have been behind the wheel of Next Gen cars. Instead, he took the experience as his own personal learning curve.
“It’s different, but it’s a race car at the end of the day. There are some things we can learn on, and we’re going to figure it out. The car sounds really cool; from the inside it sounds really mean,” Wallace said.
Wallace was racing the Prototype 3 and was specifically helping to test tire wear. Overall, the Next Gen model also looks at other engineering features, such as cockpit temperature.
