Bubba Wallace is on the Road to Daytona, But Takes a ‘Very Necessary Pit Stop’ in New Pic

by Jonathan Howard

This weekend is the end of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season. Bubba Wallace is on his way down to Daytona but first had to make a pit stop. Last week in Michigan, Wallace finished back in 19th place. The race was tough and there were a couple of incidents during the second and final stages of the FireKeepers Casino 400.

While Wallace didn’t finish where he may have liked, he is heading down to Daytona to race once more in the regular season. Currently, he is sitting at 21st in the cup series standings. It would have to be a miracle to get into the top-16 and into the playoffs. However, it seems that Wallace is just happy to be heading down to Daytona for another race.

Earlier this year, Bubba Wallace teamed up with McDonald’s as part of their Black & Positively Golden Mentors program. Since joining that partnership, Wallace has raced with the golden arches on his hood. Also, how about that motorcycle! Perhaps all those laps strapped into a racecar in the sweltering heat makes one yearn for the open feeling of two wheels on the road?

Bubba Wallace 2021 NASCAR Cup Series

So far this season, Bubba Wallace has performed alright in the NASCAR Cup Series. He has accumulated 482 points over the season which is good enough for 21st in the field. While he has no first-place wins, he does have a top-5 finish on the season. As for the race in Daytona coming up, he will lineup in the 20th position.

This could end up being a successful season for Wallace though. If he is able to make his way into the top-20, he could match his best finish in the cup series. His best finish came in 2020 when he placed 22nd.

There is a path for him to move up a couple of spots above Ross Chastain and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. That remains to be seen as Daytona inches closer and closer.

NASCAR Cup Series Last Week

Last week, the FireKeepers Casino 400 was an exciting race. Although Bubba Wallace finished back in 19th, there was some great action. Throughout the first two stages, it seemed to be a clean meet. However, Brad Keselowski and Austin Dillon got into a wreck right after crossing the line in stage two.

It was a simple accident, but nothing is simple in NASCAR. Dillon was taken out and did not compete in the final stage. That was a tough one for Dillon who currently sits at 17th in the NASCAR Cup Series. One spot out of the top-16 that qualifies for the playoffs.

While Dillon has raced well this season, it will take a solid performance and a full day of racing to get into the top-16. With 652 points, he currently sits almost 100 points above 18th place Matt DiBenedetto. 16th place Tyler Reddick is just 25 points ahead and is well within reach. Daytona is where legends are made and where drivers leave it all on the track.
