Bubba Wallace Responds to ‘Forward Momentum’ 11th Place Finish at NASCAR Drydene 400

Popular NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace took to social media on Sunday evening to give his thoughts on his most recent performance.

As many NASCAR fans know by now, Bubba Wallace is always extremely critical of himself and the way he drives at any given race. And one cool thing that Wallace does is share on social media his thoughts about how each race goes for him and his team.

Wallace and the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series drivers hit the track on Sunday afternoon for the Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway. The race at the one-mile oval track was the 13th points-paying race of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season.

For those of us that have been following, we know that Wallace has struggled to put together a top-tier performance this year. But after his best placing so far this season, Wallace took to Twitter to let his fans know that he is back on the right track.

“There we go, forward momentum,” Wallace tweeted on Sunday evening. “Wasn’t a perfect day by any means, but it’s good to put a solid run together at one of my favorite tracks. Continuing to build and improve. Appreciate @McDonalds hanging on for the ride. @23XIRacing”

Bubba Wallace officially came in 11th place on Sunday afternoon. It was without question his best performance of the season up to this point. Before that, the best he and his team had managed to finish is 16th. In fact, the driver of the No. 23 Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing has finished in 16th place three times this year.

Bubba Wallace Back on Track After a Tough Stretch of Races

Bubba Wallace was able to find a positive takeaway from his 11th place finish at Dover on Sunday. However, prior to that, it had been a tough stretch for Wallace. And fans of the popular driver know it. So, after seeing him perform better today they made sure to hype him up on social media.

“So happy to see you up there! I would say I’m exited for the next race but it’s a road course!” one fan replied to Wallace. “Super proud of 23XI and all of your sponsors, McDonald’s, DoorDash, Columbia, Mobil 1, DrPepper, Root Insurance, Beats by Dre and so many more! Congratulations on 11th!”

Another fan responded saying that Wallace and 23XI Racing have a “bright future ahead.”

“Proud of yall for keeping your head up and working to get better. Bright future ahead for this team.”

And while from the outside it feels like Wallace hasn’t been having his best season, one fan chimed in saying that from a statistical perspective, it has been a career year for the 27-year-old from Mobile, Alabama.

“So close to that first top10 of 2021! But so far having a career best season in terms of average finish currently at 20.8 (21.1 in 2020), laps led at 46 (34 laps led in first 112 career starts), 18.4 average start, & points rank at 21st.”

There is no telling how the next race will turn out for Bubba Wallace. But he, his team, and his fans are hoping to build on the forward progress they made today.
