On Monday, actor Rainn Wilson sent a message on Twitter to the Buffalo Bills‘ young quarterback Josh Allen, and the QB hilariously responded.
Wilson acknowledged how impressive Allen has been this year by calling him one of his favorite quarterbacks. In fact, the actor tweeted that “@JoshAllenQB is my second favorite quarterback.”
Allen humorously responded to Wilson using a similar line to one of the actor’s most recognized quotes. Wilson is most well-known for his character Dwight Schrute on NBC’s comedy The Office. Dwight is forever trying to move up the office’s chain of command throughout the show’s nine seasons.
The regional manager Michael Scott – played by actor Steve Carell – allows Dwight to think he’s his number two man. Dwight repeatedly deems himself the office’s “assistant regional manager.” However, Michael and others in the office amusingly correct him every time. They call him the “assistant to the regional manager,” since there is no pay raise or authority attached to the title.
Allen pounced on the opportunity to use Wilson’s character’s quote from the show in response. Since Wilson called Allen his second favorite quarterback, the Bills player appropriately used the “assistant to the regional manager” line against him.
“Assistant favorite Qb, or assistant to your favorite Qb?” Allen joked with Wilson.
Allen Is Having a Great Year, Is Surely Bills Fans #1 Fav QB
The Bills drafted Allen, 24, with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The University of Wyoming product has been a revelation for Buffalo in the last two seasons. The Bills made the playoffs in 2019 for only the third time in the last 20 years behind his play. The second-year quarterback led the league in fourth-quarter comebacks, adding five game-winning drives to his name last year.
In 2020, Allen has continued his ascension on the field. He’s led the Bills to a 9-3 record through Week 13. Additionally, Buffalo sits on top of the AFC North with a one-game lead in their division. If the team can continue their solid play over the next four weeks, they’ll earn a playoff spot two years in a row.
The Bills have had some rough years since the ’90s. Buffalo’s fans are definitely happy to have a playoff-contending football team again. That’s in large part due to Allen and his athleticism throwing and running the ball for the Bills.
With four games left, Allen has already recorded 3,403 passing yards and 26 touchdown throws. He’s completed an impressive 69.9% of his pass attempts and only thrown eight interceptions. In addition, the quarterback has run for 322 more yards and added an additional 6 touchdowns on the ground. He’s quickly become one of the best dual-threat QBs in the NFL today.
