Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson Tips Restaurant Server $100 for Every Minute Past Closing

On Wednesday night, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson, also known as Ochocinco, blessed his server at dinner with a ridiculously good tip.

Johnson visited one of his favorite Cuban restaurants called Havana’s in Cooper City, FL. The former wide receiver knew he was having dinner late, which could be an inconvenience to the kitchen and its staff. However, he promised to make up for it with a generous tip, and Johnson did not disappoint.

Before heading to dinner, he posted on his official Twitter account about his dinner plans.

“Headed to my Cuban spot for dinner, I’m being somewhat of an inconvenience for the kitchen & staff being that they close at 10pm but i will be sure to bless my server $100 for every minute after 10pm for the trouble,” Chad Johnson tweeted.

As a man of his word, Ochocinco paid up, just like he said he would. In addition, he posted the receipt to prove he wasn’t joking around. As the receipt shows, he stayed 13 minutes past closing time, therefore he tipped $1,300 to his server. He added a short written message on the receipt that read, “sorry for keeping you at work 13 minutes after closing” and added a smiley face.

In his Twitter post, he added the caption, “Proverbs 11:25.” The Bible verse reads, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Johnson’s generosity has been well documented since moving on from the NFL in 2012. So it’s no surprise he tipped well, but what did he eat that only cost $2.12?

Chad Johnson Spreads Holiday Cheer with Another Huge Tip

The day after Thanksgiving, Chad Johnson was shopping near a mall and decided to stop in at a Miller’s Ale House in Jacksonville. Johnson enjoyed his server and the service he provided, so he tipped the man extremely well to say the least.

“I found a Miller’s Ale House near the mall, my server is cool & has no idea the blessing in which will be bestowed upon him,” Johnson tweeted on the occasion.

Ochocinco’s tab totaled $41, but he decided to tip according to the NFL’s leader in receiving yards. At the time, Washington’s wide receiver Terry McLaurin led the league with 963 yards. Therefore, server Michael Formanek received the same amount as his tip that day.

Formanek told reporter Ryan Nelson of Action Jax 30 that the tip would truly help him and his family over the holidays.

“The plans for this money, it’s definitely going to help Christmas, it’s definitely going to help pay a couple of bills. Probably take Mom to a nice dinner,” Formanek said.
