Twitter is lighting up after Chicago Bears’ backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky hurt his shoulder on Sunday. Trubisky was on the field for only one play — a three-yard run out of the “Wildcat” formation in the first quarter.

The Bears’ backup quarterback took his only snap of the game during the first quarter. It marked Trubisky’s first game action since he was benched following a third-quarter interception against the Falcons in Week 3.

According to NFL Network, the severity of Trubisky’s injury is still being evaluated.

“From NFL Now on @nflnetwork: #Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky is undergoing evaluations on his shoulder after injuring it on Sunday vs. the #Saints,” Garafolo said. “There’s concern it could be a structural issue, though the extent is unclear at this point.”

Bears coach Matt Nagy will address the media after practice later on Wednesday. That’s when the team will release their weekly injury report as well.

Nick Foles is currently the Bears’ starter and Trubisky is the only other quarterback on the active roster. They do have Tyler Bray, however, on the practice squad.

Twitter Lights Up Over Mitch Trubisky Injury

The news of Mitch Trubisky’s injury was met with mixed reactions today on Twitter. Some NFL fans thought that the Bears did wrong by benching him and then subsequently putting him on the field for one play.

“Wait… You’re telling me the Bears benched Trubisky while he was winning then brought him in for one play during a saints game they lost where he got injured?” One fan wrote. “I’m not a huge Trubisky fan but this organization ruined him.”

One fan, meanwhile, went as far as to say the Bears leaked the injury to Trubisky so fans wouldn’t call for him to start over Foles.

“This was ‘leaked’ to stop all the Mitch should be the QB talk,” he said.

Another user retweeted the news and reminded the Chicago Bears the free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still on the market.

@ChicagoBears, @Kaepernick7 is waiting for your call…” he wrote.
