In today’s NFL game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Football Team, field goal kicker Randy Bullock missed two field goals. He also missed an extra point. Needless to say, Bengals fans let him know how they felt. Right now, “Fat Randy” is trending on Twitter as a result of Bullock’s miscues.

The Return of Fat Randy

“Fat Randy” Bullock became famous– or infamous– in the NFL based on his spotty kicking and bulky build. All the way back in 2014, Bullock lost his job in Houston for his kicking inconsistencies. He made 55 out of 76 field goals and missed two extra points in three games when released from the Texans.

After his release from the Houston Texans, “Fat Randy” bounced around the NFL for a few years before landing with the Bengals in 2017. His “Fat Randy” reputation died down after some fairly consistent kicking, hitting over 90% for two of the four years.

Now, “Fat Randy” is back and putting up a stat line close to what got him fired in Houston. Before this game, he only missed two out of 21 attempts this year. With a 90.5% field goal percentage this year, the Bengals would need a good reason to release him based on one bad game. He also made all of his 21 attempts at extra points this year, in a season where kickers are missing extra points at a much higher rate than usual.

Woes of the Cincinnati Bengals Continue

Early in the third quarter of the Cincinnati matchup against the Washington Football Team, the Bengals’ woes continued. Joe Burrow, the first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, was carted off the field with a knee injury. Burrow also won the 2019 Heisman trophy, leading LSU to a national championship.
