For a football predictor, Darius Rucker sure makes for a terrific country singer.
Rucker gave us his annual NFL predictions, Friday. And he’s doing them with the heart as his guide. That’s because he’s a ride-or-die fan of both the Miami Dolphins and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Darius Rucker posted a cheeky video to his Instagram account. He informed his followers of his “predictions for this football season.
“Dolphins win the Super Bowl. The Gamecocks are going to win the national championship. And Tua will be the MVP.
“Tua time baby, Tua Time”
Is Darius Rucker Using His Brain or Heart for Football Predictions?
You agree with anything Darius Rucker predicted?
Darius Rucker will always and forever be a fan of the Miami Dolphins. That’s who he is.
Rucker named his daughter, Dani, after Miami superstar quarterback Dan Marino. And you probably know a line from a song when Rucker was with Hootie and the Blowfish. Think of Only Wanna Be with You. Remember I’m such a baby, yeah, the dolphins make me cry. Darius Rucker was referring to his unwavering love of the Miami Dolphins. He still has the team logo tattooed somewhere on his body.
Darius Rucker did a video interview on his love for the Dolphins. He said:
“When I was five years old, the Dolphins played the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl and they lost and my whole family was pulling for the Cowboys. I said I loved the Dolphins and I started pulling for them and I became a big fan. The next year they went undefeated. It was awesome. It was great and all through the years, they’ve had such great players and I’ve gotten to be friends with my favorite player. My favorite athlete of all time is Dan Marino and it all came from my love of the Dolphins.”
Tua Tagovailoa, the former quarterback of the Alabama Crimson Tide, now is the QB of the Dolphins. So that automatically makes him a Rucker favorite. He predicts he’ll be the best in the NFL.
For now, here’s a flaw in his argument. Miami isn’t solely settled on Tua. There’s still talk that the Dolphins will try to land disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The Dolphins open the regular season on Sept. 12 on the road against the New England Patriots. There’s a mighty fine chance that two Alabama quarterbacks will be facing off against each other. After all, rookie Mac Jones, a one-time backup to Tua, is the No. 1 quarterback with the Patriots.
Rucker Loves Gamecocks So Much He Built Football Team a Recording Studio
Finally, Darius Rucker is a South Carolina super fan because he also is an alum of the school. Two years ago, he donated the money to build a recording studio in the Gamecocks football complex. Now, that’s some school spirit.
South Carolina training camp was crazy under first-year coach Shane Beamer. The coach lost his starting quarterback to injury, so he elevated Zeb Noland. Here’s the weird part. Noland joined the team as a grad assistant coach. He played for North Dakota State last year and started his career with Iowa State.
So yes, Darius Rucker made some crazy predictions. But he’s loyal to his favorites. And that makes football so much fun.
