Daytona 500: Bubba Wallace Drops Awesome Flyover Picture from Pre-Race

Bubba Wallace looks like he’s about to drop the hottest mixtape of 2021with his new epic pre-race flyover pic from the Daytona 500. Decked out in his red racing suit with a matching mask, headphones, and sunglasses, Wallace is the peak of fashion in NASCAR.

While the brand new 23XI racer may not have won first in the Daytona 500, he certainly stole the fashion show. Of course, we should have expected the team whose owner created the Jordan “Jump man” to come out in style.

All Bubba Wallace need to caption this picture was the fire emoji. He’s got that right.

Speaking of fire, however, the flames were not Wallace’s best friend during the race as they were in the pre-race flyover. In the final lap of the Daytona 500, Bubba Wallace and the brand new #23 car ran into a fiery wreck that took them out of the leading group. Wallace ended up finishing at 17th place in the debut race for the brand new racing team.

This particular Daytona 500 had enough chaos to last us through the rest of the racing season. In the fifteenth lap of the race, a massive pile up eliminated much of the competition. Them, a rain delay paused the action for a few hours. Then in the 37th lap, another wreck caused by debris from a car knocked another racer out of the competition. Finally, on the last lap of the race, another fiery wreck knocked Bubba Wallace off of the track.

The Daytona 500 Flyover Tradition

The Daytona 500 introduced the Thunderbirds flyover back when the race itself just began. Bill France Sr. helped invent boxcar racing, and also introduced the Flyover tradition to NASCAR. He was a huge proponent of racing and an even bigger supporter of the American armed forces. So, when the Daytona 500 started in 1958, so did Air Force Flyovers… Bill France made sure of it.

Now, half a century later, the same tradition continues before the Daytona 500. The result? A really really badass picture from one of NASCAR’s most badass drivers. We all have different reasons for loving the Air Force Thunderbirds Flyover. Some love to show support to our troops and our military, others love the rush of the sound. Bubba Wallace, however, must love the flyover for the fly pictures that come out of it.
