Denny Hamlin is one of the co-owners of 23 XI racing, along with Michael Jordan. Today, Jan. 14, the racecar paint scheme was revealed to the public. It’s safe to say that Hamlin is a big fan of the paint and layout of Bubba Wallace’s car.
DoorDash and 23XI Racing, Denny Hamlin’s co-owned NASCAR Cup Series team, revealed the primary color scheme. The red Bubba Wallace No. 23 Toyota car will certainly turn heads. The paint scheme directly reflects the colors that Michael Jordan wore in Chicago.
Moreover, Denny Hamlin is trying to be a “hands-on owner” so that the team reflects his values and hopefully his winning ways. The color scheme prominently features the DoorDash logo on the hood and the doors. The first race for Bubba Wallace will be on February 14.
Hamlin took to Twitter to applaud the car’s colors.
Hamlin, Jordan, and Wallace haven’t said how many races this DoorDash car will be in. But, the February 14 race will mark the start of Bubba Wallace’s fourth full season in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Denny Hamlin Talks About Team Colors
“When building a race team, I can’t emphasize enough that this is from the ground up. I’m looking at catalogs figuring out what the team is going to wear, the polos, the shirts, the sweatshirt… there are decisions for everything. I wake up every morning and look forward to the emails that I need to respond to. We’re making huge strides right now and I’m really excited about it.”
Even though Hamlin talked about this late in 2020, some gear is now available for fans to purchase. Meanwhile, the race shop is shaping up nicely. He is getting the shop floors and walls painted to reflect the team’s colors. Everything is going along nicely, and the team is shaping up to be a contender in this year’s Cup Series.
While Hamlin is a co-owner for 23XI Racing, he is still driving a different car. This year he will have to split his time while racing the number 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. However, as a hands-on guy this year, he is concentrated on making sure everything is running smoothly.
