LaVar Ball has never been shy about saying what’s on his mind. Now, he is sounding off on the Detroit Pistons for cutting son LiAngelo Ball from the team on Monday.

“The people in Detroit are great. I love the fans, but the franchise over there is raggedy as hell,” he said during an AMA with Bleacher Report. “They don’t know a good player. I was giving them a lottery pick for free! Has the skills to play and the notoriety to bring everybody to the game.”

LaVar Ball also went on to say that the Pistons franchise made a mistake in cutting LiAngelo, who had played in only two preseason games thus far, from its roster.

“They’re gonna learn the hard way,” Ball also said during the AMA. “My boys are gonna end up together playing somewhere. ‘Gelo can shoot the lights out. That was raggedy what they did. But hey, they’re gonna learn the hard way.”

In addition to waiving LiAngelo Ball, the Pistons reportedly also cut Anthony Lamb and Louis King.

LaVar Ball is the patriarch of a basketball family that includes sons Lonzo Ball, LaMelo Ball and LiAngelo Ball. Lonzo currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans and was the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft. LaMelo was selected No. 3 by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2020 NBA draft.

Recently, LaVar Ball said LaMelo would win a one-on-one matchup with NBA champion and all-star Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

“Stop it, LaMelo,” Lavar Ball said. “Steph is too little, he’s only like 6-3 or 6-2. Lamelo is taller than him and longer than him.”

The 2020-21 NBA season is scheduled to officially begin on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Preseason games are currently being played. Experts have weighed in on all 30 teams.
