Dez Bryant blasted ex-Seahawks lineman Chad Wheeler Wednesday and threatened to fight him in a series of tweets as more details on Wheeler’s alleged attack of his girlfriend surfaced. Bryant also took aim at the media for what he believes is biased coverage, saying Wheeler was getting better treatment because he is white.
Police arrested Wheeler Saturday after they said he violently assaulted his girlfriend and choked her unconscious, the New York Post reported. The attack was apparently so vicious that the back-up offensive tackle thought he’d killed her, she told police. When she regained consciousness, Wheeler looked shocked and said, “Wow you’re alive?” the Seattle Times reported.
Police arrested Wheeler on suspicion of felony domestic violence. He is currently out of jail after posting a $400,000 bond, the Post said.
Dez Bryant Threatens Wheeler, Slams Media Coverage
Ravens wide receiver Dez Bryant was furious after learning details about the alleged assault. He threatened Wheeler and blasted the media in a series of tweets today.
“Chad wheeler if I ever run across you We are going toe to toe because I wouldn’t mind making the news breaking something across your f******g head then ask you are you still alive?.. I know 1 thing the media don’t mind destroying the black athletes without the facts,” he tweeted.
“He tried to make her Bow to him,” Bryant tweeted shortly after that. Wheeler allegedly made his girlfriend bow to him during the alleged assault, a police report said.
“You got to be f******g kidding me.. do you know how many black athletes come from traumatized environments as kids and don’t act like this.. NFL know we from that and they use it against us.. it’s a negotiating tool.. yea they can save the bi polar excuse,” Bryant tweeted.
Police said that Wheeler was bipolar and had stopped taking his medication before the reported assault, the Post said. Bryant responded to a tweet that said Wheeler’s diagnosis could be used as an excuse.
Some fans pushed back to say race isn’t a factor in this case. Bryant bristled at that.
“I don’t discriminate not even a lil bit.. I’m giving you views from a black man.. I’m giving you my experiences.. I don’t expect you to understand because you are not black and that’s ok.. you can learn today,” he tweeted.
