Drew Brees Family, Tom Brady Join Him on Field After Brees’ Final Game in New Orleans

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees exchanged pleasantries after the Buccaneers beat the Saints in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game. Although their first exchange after the game lasted just a few seconds, it was no doubt meaningful considering it has been widely reported that Brees will retire following this season.

As Brees jogged off the field, he pointed and looked up in the stands as he blew kisses, presumably in the direction of his family. He took one look back at the field after entering the tunnel.

However, long after they met on the field, Brady and Brees made their way back onto at the Superdome field. There, the two future Hall of Famers were able to have more meaningful and private conversations and even spend some time with Brees’ family.

James Palmer, a national correspondent for NFL Network tweeted the video of Brady, Brees, and Brees’ family getting in some quality time following the game.

“As Tom Brady and Drew Brees hug and say goodbye after a long talk on the field, Brady throws a touchdown pass to Brees’ son,” Palmer wrote on Twitter. “One walks off to play in the NFC championship, the other stays to play with his kids.”

Brady and Brees currently hold the top two spots in career passing yardage and career touchdown passes. They have been among the faces of the league for two decades. Sunday’s matchup was the first in NFL history between two starting quarterbacks in their 40s.

And there’s no doubt the respect between the two 40-year-old quarterbacks was more than evident.

Tom Brady Seeks Out Drew Brees

Tom Brady was unquestionably hyped up about another playoff win and his 14th trip to the conference championship round, but he took the time to find Drew Brees.

Brees was out on the field playing with his kids and taking in the moment, which will no doubt further fuel speculation that Brees plans to retire in the near future.

Due to Brees spending most of his career in NFC and Brady being in the AFC, the two stars haven’t faced off too many times during their illustrious careers. And based on recent reports, it’s unlikely the two legends will be in that same situation again.

Brees didn’t admit after Sunday’s game whether or not he plans to retire. If he does choose to, he said he would take time to decide.

It’s challenging, of course, to make a decision like that right after a tough loss. However, many in the media have speculated for some time that this is the end of the Brees’ era.

Brady, meanwhile, will be moving on to the NFC championship game where his Bucs will face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Reports have indicated that the six-time Super Bowl champ has no plans to retire.

Nonetheless, Brady took some time on Sunday night to show respect to a fellow competitor in what was a class act. They’ll both be Hall of Famers before too long.
