Country artist Eric Church is showing some love and support for popular NASCAR driver Chase Elliott.
He posted a promotional video of Elliott and captioned it, “Good luck to @ChaseElliott this weekend at one of Eric’s favorite @NASCAR tracks, @Talladega!”
Eric Church and NASCAR
The video is hyping up the NASCAR driver in his upcoming appearance in the Cup Series Talladega race. The race is this Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m. ET on FOX.
The NASCAR Twitter account then responded the Eric Church’s post saying, “A weekend at @TALLADEGA with some new @ericchurch sounds pretty good to us.” The account posted a link to Church’s brand new album collection, “Heart & Soul.”
Even Chase Elliott saw the shoutout and threw some appreciation Church’s way. He said, “This is cool, much appreciated. And yes, if anybody was wondering… the new albums smack per usual too.”
Eric Church even wrote a song called “Talladega,” which appeared on his album, “The Outsiders” a couple of years ago.
The song is not about NASCAR at all, however. He instead said he was inspired to write the song while on a tour bus watching a race taking place at the Daytona International Speedway.
“What you see on TV there has nothing to do really with racing. It’s about that experience, whatever that is — the experience with the person next to you and knowing that that’s probably a finite time in your life. It’s not gonna last forever,” Eric Church said to CMT.
Looking Ahead at Talladega
This weekend is one of the biggest events in the NASCAR lineup. Besides Eric Church, NASCAR fans are gearing up for what is expected to be an exciting race.
Denny Hamlin will be starting on the Busch Pole for the third time during this season. Joey Logano is also going to be in the front row with Martin Truex Jr., Will Byron, and Alex Bowman behind him.
According to the NASCAR site, betters are favoring Hamlin to drive away with the victory at Talladega. He has not had a victory so far, but has had solid racing performances. Logano, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, and Chase Elliot, the reigning Cup Series champ, are also frontrunners.
In the past 11 races at the Talladega track, a Ford driver has reached the Victory Lane.
Chase Elliot 2021 Racing
Despite being the champion last year, Elliott has not yet walked away with a win this season.
While he hasn’t broken the winning column yet, Elliott isn’t letting this break down his spirits.
“I feel like we have a great team and I’m in a good place. I don’t feel any different today than I did approaching the end of the season last year. We just have to continue to push and work hard to focus on what makes us go fast, what makes me comfortable behind the wheel,” Elliott said in a NASCAR interview.
While he hasn’t seen a lot of success yet, that doesn’t mean the entire season will be defined by loss.
“I’m not concerned with it. We all want to win, but I feel no different today then I did last year and the results were just fine then,” he said.
At least he knows he has Eric Church in his corner.
