Evander Holyfield believes that a third fight with Mike Tyson will happen soon.

What Evander Holyfield Had to Say

58-year-old Holyfield said that they are in talks and he hopes to reach an agreement soon. “I’m a very confident person,” he told TMZ Sports. “I think it’s gonna happen.” His message to Tyson? “Let’s do it, baby!” Although both fighters enjoy being in the ring, at the end of the day, it is all about the fans.

Last month, a source told the outlet that Tyson was avoiding him. “It’s not even about the money at this point, I think Tyson is scared,” they said. “We’ve offered multiple times, and Tyson vs. Holyfield is the fight that should happen.”

Their History: It’s an Earful

Holyfield and Tyson’s first fight happened back in 1996 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Moreover, Holyfield won the match through a TKO in the 11th round.

Everyone remembers that in 1997 the unthinkable happened. The re-match took place on June 28, 1997. The fight was for the WBA Heavyweight Championship. Tyson bit a chunk off of Holyfield’s ear in the third round.

Tyson bit off a one-inch piece of cartilage at the top of his opponent’s ear that was bleeding. He then spat out the piece on the floor. Next, Tyson then bit Holyfield’s left ear after claiming the first injury was the result of a punch. Unsurprisingly, Tyson was disqualified for his action. He also lost his boxing license.

Tyson did a post-fight interview immediately after the incident. “Regardless of what I did, he’s been headbutting me for two fights,” he said. “I addressed it in the ring. Look at me (gesturing towards the cut above his eye) I gotta go home to my kid who’s gonna be scared of me look at me man. “[Holyfield wasn’t] the warrior everyone says he is,” he concluded.
