Fans React to Texas NASCAR Race Being Delayed A Third Straight Day

Rain continued to be a problem in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas on Tuesday forcing NASCAR to again postpone the Autotrader EchoPark 500 again. Fans argued over the decision after the race was postponed for a third consecutive day because of the weather.

The race was set to resume at noon Tuesday. NASCAR postponed the race Sunday after 52 of the scheduled 334 laps because of inclement weather. The race had originally been pushed until Monday, but organizers had to postpone it again because of heavy rains. They had to again delay the race until later Tuesday night after wet conditions continued to be an issue earlier in the day. Though, NASCAR tweeted a photo of Air Titans attempting to dry the track Tuesday after the postponement.

Officials believe there is a window in the weather late Tuesday afternoon that may allow drivers to finish the race.

NASCAR told Cup Series drivers to be prepared to remain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area until Thursday if necessary, Yahoo reported. Drivers must complete half of the playoff race — 167 laps — for it to count.

When the race was halted, Clint Bowyer was the leader. He was followed by Jimmie Johnson, Erik Jones, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch round out the top-10.

The 501-mile race is the second of three events in the Round of 8 playoffs. These will determine the final four drivers who will race for the title Nov. 8 at Phoenix Raceway. The round of 8 finale is Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Joey Logano has clinched a spot in the final four after a victory at Kansas Speedway last week.
